Vortex-Induced Nonlinear Bending Vibrations of Suspension Bridges with Static Wind Loads

چکیده

A low stiffness makes long-span suspension bridges sensitive to loads, and this sensitivity is particularly significant for wind-induced nonlinear vibrations. In the present paper, vibrations of under combined effects static vortex-induced loads are explored using partial differential–integral equation that models plane bending motion bridges. First, we discretized through Galerkin method obtain ordinary differential describes at first-order symmetric mode. Then, approximate analytical solution was obtained multiple scales method. Finally, applied reveal relationships between vibration amplitude other parameters, such as wind load, frequency dynamic structural stiffness, damping. The results show load slightly impacts bridge’s if its influence on natural ignored. However, frequency, amplitude, a result, may dramatically increase three parameters decrease.

Equivalent Static Wind Loads for Buffeting Response

In current design practice, the dynamic wind loads are described in terms of the equivalent static wind loads based on the gust response factor. This approach results in a distribution of the equivalent static loading similar to the mean static wind load distribution, which may not always be a physically meaningful and realistic load description. In this paper, the equivalent static load repres...

Alongwind Static Equivalent Wind Loads and Responses of Tall Buildings. Part I: Unfavorable Distributions of Static Equivalent Wind Loads

Although on the same theoretical basis, the current standards of major countries have set out two evidently different distributions of along-wind static equivalent wind loads, one is the same as the mean wind force and the other is the same as the first mode shape, on tall buildings. In this paper, the fluctuating static equivalent wind load is evaluated as mean, background and resonant compone...

Coupled Simulation of Vortex Induced Vibration of Slender Structures as Suspension Bridges and Offshore Risers

An important eld in computational science and engineering is the simulation of the coupled problem of uid ow interacting with a moving structure. A common notation for this is uid-structure interaction (FSI) problems, which include both aeroelasticity and hydroe-lasticity. Herein we give an overview of results obtained within Fluid-Structure Interaction-Structural Design (FSI-SD) a project that...

Geometric Nonlinear Analysis of Self-Anchored Cable-Stayed Suspension Bridges

Geometric nonlinearity of self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridges is studied in this paper. The repercussion of shrinkage and creep of concrete, rise-to-span ratio, and girder camber on the system is discussed. A self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridge with a main span of 800 m is analyzed with linear theory, second-order theory, and nonlinear theory, respectively. In the condition o...

Evaluation of Equivalent Static Wind Loads on Buildings

Wind loads on buildings can be quantified through synchronous measurements of pressure over building model surfaces or by high frequency force balance (HFFB) measurements. Although this loading information can be directly utilized for building design applications, current design practice often requires the transformation of dynamic wind loading to the equivalent static wind loads (ESWLs). This ...
